ok lemme just. tell ya this. and i’m gonna include parvati in this because she’s lavender’s best friend. these two were literally created to prop up hermione as rational and “not your typical teenage girl” but it failed because i love lavender and parvati to pieces and lemme tell ya why.

because they just are typical teenage girls??? and there’s literally nothing wrong with that??? it is so normal for teenage girls to gossip, which these two did quite a lot of, which i’d like to point out was never aimed at other humans in malicious and cruel ways. lavender reacted strongly to things, sobbing her eyes out over her pet bunny. and this was portrayed as strange???? honestly that whole scene is meant to serve hermione but hermione just looks like a huge dick in it because who wouldn’t cry over losing their pet when they’re just barely a teenager??

lavender and parvati cared about impressing boys and being the center of attention and having tons of friends because being magical doesn’t exclude them from the changes that teenage girls go through mentally and emotionally. being magical doesn’t mean they don’t get to have crushes and talk about their crushes and gossip and be cliquey. they never hurt anyone, so why is the narrative so determined to hurt them?

and lemme tell ya LEMME TELL YA lavender was SO GOOD AT DIVINATION!!! and who cares if it’s a “wooly” subject and trelawney is a “fraud” (which is a whole other subject ‘cause she predicted half of harry’s life so like fall back) she was passionate about it and excelled!!!! but it wasn’t the practical subjects that hermione was good at so it was useless. it’s the same thing as teenage girls who are passionate about makeup getting slammed for not having a “good” passion.

basically what i’m getting at is lavender was catty sometimes, yeah, but she took the time to listen to harry’s side of the story, she showed up to join the DA, she went to meetings, she was there in the final battle and very likely died in that battle as was implied in the movies and y’all are out here still trying to tell me that her teenage girl behavior made her an unlikable character good BYE
